1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Citizenly ("we," "us," or "our"), available at citizenly.app, collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Citizenly is independently operated and is NOT affiliated with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Department of Homeland Security, or any government agency.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Email address — used for account creation, login, and essential communications about your account.
  • Name — if you choose to provide one during account setup.
  • Language preference — the language you select for studying.
  • Citizenship rule selection — the exemption rule you indicate during onboarding (50/20, 55/15, 65/20, or unsure). This is stored to personalize your study experience.
  • State and congressional district — used to personalize civics questions that ask about your local representatives. This information is stored in your account and is not shared with any third party.
  • PIN — used as your account credential. Your PIN is stored securely in our database.

Information Generated by Your Use of the Service

As you use Citizenly, we automatically collect:

  • Study activity data — questions practiced, answers given, accuracy rates, topics studied, and study streaks.
  • Mistake tracking data — questions you answered incorrectly, stored so you can review and practice them.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit citizenly.app, we may automatically collect:

  • Device information — browser type, operating system, and device type.
  • Log data — IP address, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URL.
